It’s all possible at the Congress Expo, at the 85th annual Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences! Join over 8,000 attendees and visit over 50 exhibitor booths from May 28 to June 3, 2016 at the University of Calgary.

Located in the Congress Hub, Expo will be housed in the Jack Simpson Gym at the heart of the university campus! And you won’t want to miss the snacks and refreshments at the Thinking Cup Café, organized by the University of Calgary.

The Congress Expo will be a hub of activity with a dynamic events space hosting thought-provoking discussions, career presentations, book launches and book signings. Visit the Calendar of Events for more details.

Congress 2016 Expo passport contest (New!)

To participate, please bring the passport that will be stitched to your Congress Guide on site to any of the 50 exhibitors on the floor plan inside and receive a stamp. After you have collected 20 stamps, bring the passport to the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences’ booth (#1). This passport properly completed is your key to entering a fabulous contest to win one out of two Congress 2017 packages (including registration and two nights’ accommodations in Toronto) or our grand prize of an iPad pro!

Expo Passport Contest Rules

Eligibility/ Participants

The Congress Expo Passport Game is open to all members of the public, Congress attendees, association conference organizers and anyone that attends Congress Expo. Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences staff and board as well as those organizing and supporting Congress are not eligible.

Contest Period

Starting at 10am Mountain time on Friday May 27, 2016 to 2pm Mountain time Friday June 3, 2016. Attendees can participate by collecting their Passport entry form at Congress registration or at the Federation booth both located in Congress Expo in the Jack Simpson Gymnasium, Kinesiology B Building at the University of Calgary. Registration to Congress is not required to receive a Passport entry form. In order to be eligible forms must be submitted by the contest closing time 2pm Mountain time Friday, June 3rd, 2016.

How to participate and have a successful entry

The Passport form will be attached to the Congress Guide and also available for pick up at registration and the Federation booth in Congress Expo. Attendees may visit any participating exhibitor’s booth in Congress Expo and receive a stamp on the passport from the exhibitor’s booth staff in the allocated location for that exhibitor on the Passport. You must receive at least 20 stamps (1 from each exhibitor) to have a successful entry. You can drop off your completed passport at the Federation booth located in Expo. The draw will be made following Congress on Wednesday June 15, 2016 and the winners will be contacted directly via the contact information (name, organization, email address or telephone) supplied on the Passport entry form. Attendees are restricted to one entry per person. Entries without 20 valid stamps on the form will be considered invalid and not entered into the final prize draw. In order to ensure entries are valid there will be 4 different colour stamps handed out to exhibitors. If you have a stamp colour for an exhibitor that is incorrect that stamp will not count towards the minimum 20 stamps required for a completed Passport.
