The wounded ones: Conversations about the multiple legacies of colonialism
This panel will discuss the term “genocide” and what has happened in Canada, Palestine, Rwanda and Namibia; the role and place of Truth and Reconciliation Commissions; and the legacies of colonialism. Our writers will discuss colonialism and its far-reaching effects and what Canadians can learn from these experiences.
Speakers include: Ghada Ageel, Editor of Apartheid in Palestine: Hard Laws and Harder Experiences, Visiting Scholar at the University of Alberta; Juliane Okot Bitek, author of 100 Days, Liu Institute for Global Studies, University of British Columbia; Peter Midgley, author of Counting Teeth: a Namibian Story, Senior Editor (Acquisitions), University of Alberta Press and Richard van Camp, author of The Lesser Blessed.
