The University of Calgary is located in northwest Calgary and is on the CTrain line. Visit the Calgary Transit website for fares, schedules and maps. 

The CTrain’s main transit hub on campus is University Station. The university is directly west of the station and there is an overhead walkway to get onto campus.

The buses’ main transit hub on campus is on University Way (near the Education Block, Professional Faculties Building, and Murray Fraser Hall). Books of ten bus tickets are available for purchase at the Campus Ticket Centre in MacEwan Hall.

All buses and CTrains are low-floor equipped and 100% accessible.

Hotel-campus shuttle

The University of Calgary will be offering a limited fee-for-service shuttle for transportation to and from the following accommodations, starting Saturday, May 28:

  • Centro Motel (4540-16 Avenue NW)
  • Days Inn Calgary Northwest (4420-16 Avenue NW)
  • Four Points by Sheraton Hotel & Suites Calgary West (8220 Bowridge Crescent NW)
  • Sandman Hotel and Suites Calgary West (125 Bowridge Drive NW)

The drop-off and pick-up point on campus will be Collegiate Boulevard (close to the Congress Hub).

Morning pick-ups at the hotels/motels will be at 7:00 and 8:00. Return trips will depart from campus at 17:00 and 18:00. On evenings when a President’s Reception occurs, an additional trip will depart from campus at 19:15, outside of the EEEL building. 

The cost will be $3.50 per trip per person or $7.00 for a round trip – cash only.  Tickets will be available for purchase on the shuttle, at the shuttle stop on campus, in the Congress Hub near registration, and in the MacEwan Hall info kiosk.

Taxi service is also available.

Note: The remaining Congress hotels are close to public transit stations and are not part of a Congress shuttle program. See the Public Transit section for more information.

Parking

You are encouraged to walk, use public transit, or take a taxi to campus. If you are driving to campus, public parking is available – see the Congress map for locations. There are four full-day pay lots as well as several hourly pay lots. Carpooling is encouraged, as special parking rates apply in some lots. Overnight parking is only available to guests of Hotel Alma or Alma Express properties.

The current parking rates* range from $7-$10 per entry or $4-$6 per hour depending on the type of parking. Meters and Pay Station lots have both an hourly and daily rate available, while flat rate paylots and parkades offer one rate per entry. Please note that pay machines ONLY accept credit cards.

On-campus shuttle

The University of Calgary campus is fully connected by internal walkways and tunnels. Feel free to use these indoor connections, or walk between buildings, to get from place to place. There will be a complimentary on-campus shuttle running around the edges of campus to assist those with heavy luggage, baby strollers, or temporary accessibility needs. Consult the Congress 2016 Map for stop locations. Shuttles will run daily from approximately 7:30 to 17:30. For those with more severe mobility needs, a specialized Mobility Assistance Shuttle will be available on demand.
