On-campus accommodations update in light of Fort McMurray evacuee situation

The University of Calgary remains committed to delivering an exceptional Congress 2016. All events and activities will go ahead as planned and all Congress residence bookings will be accommodated.

The Federation is working closely with the University of Calgary to ensure that the event proceeds as planned while taking into account UCalgary’s ongoing commitments to shelter displaced Fort McMurray residents and fully respecting all Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) processes.

The urgent need to house evacuees on the UCalgary campus has meant that some residence bookings have been moved to local hotels -- at no extra cost to Congress attendees, and with no further booking action required on their part. These hotels are close to campus and easily accessible by public transit or shuttles.

Local transportation information for attendees is available on the Congress 2016 website, including hotel-campus shuttle details. All impacted attendees will be contacted personally by May 18 with new accommodation details including hotel and location.

Congress attendees with questions can contact the university’s Hotel Alma and Seasonal Residence at 1-877-498-3203 or stayforcongress2016@ucalgary.ca.
